| Services | Mediation Mediation Services Mediation is a voluntary and private settlement process emphasizing informed decision-making and mutually acceptable agreements. Mediation provides an alternative to the win-lose approach of the adversarial legal system. It is practical, informed, highly focused on the issues to be resolved, and involves mutual problem-solving. Dr. Stahl helps parties clarify their disputes, communicate clearly, determine their needs and interests, consider options for settlement, and reach fair agreements. Written agreements are prepared where appropriate or desired. Parties are encouraged to enter mediation with ideas about their children and their children's needs and be prepared to negotiate with each other about these needs. Dr. Stahl is dedicated to helping parties resolve conflict and move forward in their lives by providing caring, accurate, thorough and creative mediation services. He strives to treat clients with dignity and consideration through cooperation and respectful communication. In general, mediation will be confidential. If a settlement is reached, he will provide the necessary paperwork to turn the agreement into a court order. If a settlement is not reached, Dr. Stahl will make specific recommendations to parents, but will not make recommendations to the courts. He may make a recommendation for a more thorough assessment, such as a child custody evaluation, or for a short term parenting plan, but not for a permanent arrangement. For more information on mediation, you will want to see "Tips to Prepare for Child Custody Mediation". Dr. Stahl adheres to the standards for mediation developed by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. To explore the possibility of his participation as mediator, contact Dr. Stahl by phone or email Dr. Stahl. |
